ABOUT
I am Alyson, the founder of The Welfare Hub, thanks for coming over to our page and seeing what we are about.
A quick bio of how we got here - 35+ years working for large blue chip companies through to small bespoke companies and as a sole director contracting into various industries and locations around the world. 3 years of research, design and building, I successfully launched a new business in 2020 with great potential and growth opportunity. Along came covid and changed many industries beyond recognition within weeks ,taking with it my new business. No to be beaten, using all the tech that we had, we pivoted the whole business to a sucessful alternative. Uptake was quick and seeing it grow again was great and promising. It was September 2020, we had customers all signed up and ready to go again, business looked good and the future was promising, given the world we were in at the time - we felt we were secure.
3 weeks later in October 2020, things changed in an instant, heading home one Friday evening a life changing car accident resulted in 3 months in wheelchair, extensive surgery and my business having to close due to not being able to take it to its potential . The impact of the physical injuries were one thing, you could see those and people understood the pain and frustration and watched them heal. They saw me progressing with being able to walk again and regaining the confidence to drive again and start all over again physically.
What nobody could see was '' the strong me '' , struggling beyond explanation the mental impact of losing everything along with how my injuries had changed my life.
Once the physical injuries started to heal, the mental injuries came out in full force. I was diagnosed with PTSD, depression and post concussive syndrome all of which left me feeling alone, vulnerable and not knowing which way to turn, even though I was trainined in how to help others.
I received fantastic help from professionals both physically and mentally to get me back on the long road to recovery. A story for another time.
Using the help that was available plus the training I had as a trained therapist, I knew I had the tools to get past it, I just needed to dig deep and use everything I had learned. I am so glad I had the training that I had and was able to use it to get me back on the road . The belief that I would be ok was ''in there somewhere'' - I just needed to drag it out and use it.
October 2022, 2 years after the accident, The Welfare Hub started to take shape, continuing with rehab, both physical and mental, plus additional learning offering individuals the chance to build back confidence after trauma and to strenthen their resilience to overcome anything. Working with teams to ensure reslience is part of their everyday living, as things change without warning both personally and privately - so being prepared and ready is so important, armed with the knowledge of how to overcome challenges head on.
